About Us
Adoption Love and Service is the private practice of Thea Drescher, LCSW located in Tacoma, Washington. It provides homestudy, post-placement, post-adoption services for all adoptive families in the Tacoma, Southwest Washington and Greater Puget Sound area. The adoptive families that this practice serves includes: international, domestic, step-parent, second parent and single parent families.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am also a 47 year old adoptive mother to a 6 year old girl from China. My passion for adoption work was peaked as a result of my own adoption journey. I have 25 years of social work experience with high risk youth which has been a solid foundation in my success with adoptive families. In addition, I have been teaching at the university level since 2000. Currently, I am teaching at the University of Washington, Tacoma in the Social Work Program.
I use several assessment tools to determine the strengths and resources of each family. These include interviews, questionnaires and documentation. Each homestudy requires documentation, and the type of adoption you need will determine the documents you must collect.
I also use assessment tools in the post placement reports. Questionnaires and interviews are usually all that are required. If the child to be adopted already lives with the adoptive parent(s), then documentation will be required as well.
